Airmen/NCO's Cover

|
- Cadet Officers will wear embroidered grade insignia on dark blue cloth centered on the front of the cap.
- All light silver on dark blue insignia will have 1/8 inch of blue showing at the widest and tallest point of the insignia.

Airmen/NCO's Insignias
- Chevrons rest 1-inch from the collar edge, parallel to that edge and centered. Chevrons are worn on both collars and in the same manner on ABUs and Blues alike. Until you earn your first stripe, you won’t wear anything on your collar.

Officer Insignias
- Officers will wear embroidered grade insignia on dark blue cloth.
- All insignia will have 1/8 inch of blue showing at the widest and tallest point of insignia.
- Officer grade will be centered, perpendicular to, and begin one inch from the bottom of the collar.
- Lt Col and Maj grade will be centered one inch from the bottom of the collar with the stem parallel to the ground and pointing away from the wearer’s neck.
- The long end of the Flight Officer, Lieutenant and Captain bars will be centered one inch from the bottom of the collar.

Cloth nametape rests on but not over the right breast pocket of the ABUs. Do not cut the excess fabric but fold it under to prevent fraying. |

Cloth CAP tape rests on but not over the left breast pocket of the ABUs. Do not cut the excess fabric but fold it under to prevent fraying.

ABU Sleeves when rolled up must touch or come within 1” of forearm, when bent at 90° angle. |

ABU pants must be bloused over combat boots.

Other ABU Uniform Items
| Belt |
- A standard Desert Tan belt will be worn. A rigger-style belt with a hook and loop buckle may be worn.

| Footwear |
- Black socks
- Black combat or tactical boots are mandatory with this uniform.
- Laces tucked into the boots.

| Headgear / Cover |
- Headgear will be worn outdoors at all times, unless in a designated “no hat” area.
- Cadet Officers will wear embroidered grade insignia on dark blue cloth centered on the front of the cap.

| Outer Garments |
- Authorized outer garments are the AF green fleece jacket or the ABU Gortex parka. Outer garments will only be worn outdoors.
- Cold weather accessories will only be worn when wearing authorized outer garments (Exception: gloves worn solely with ABUs). With the exception of functional items, cold weather accessories are only worn while outdoors.

| Thermal Underwear |
- Desert sand, cream, or white thermal underwear may be worn under the ABU. Thermal underwear will not be worn as an outer garment. Thermal underwear will not be visible under the ABU trouser and coat except at the neck.
